On Friday 25 March, we went to see Uncle Rhys marry Auntie Jo. It was a beautiful sunny Spring day and you wore a pretty dress with matching knickers over your nappy. You were excellent during the service, you had a few grumbles but no big crying and you enjoyed the hymns - at least, they sent you to sleep. You even let the photographer take some photos of you.
Other than some crying for food and again when you got over tired, you were a little angel at the hotel. Sleeping for hours and hours in the evening while you were fussed over and passed from relative to relative for cuddles.

Six weeks old
You're definitely smiling in response to us or other people or external stimuli now. It's beautiful to watch. I think you recognise us too.
You're growing - noticeably in length.
Your eyes vary from pale blue to grey to steel blue. I can't wait to see what they settle on.
You've started finding your tongue so you play about with it and click at us. We're also getting gurgles and noises now too :)
You like no nappy time and quite happily kick away when you're on your back.
You're loving your whoozit that Auntie Lora gave you and the magic bouncer that Auntie Kerry bought you.

Doctor: 38 days old
On Monday 21 March, I had an apt with Dr O'Gorman. Granny took us. She reassured me that my scar will heal given time - some bodies heal slower and don't like the dissolvable stitches.
My rash might be an increased sensitivity to my necklace but is definitely an allergy of some sort. I have another tablet for thrush in case I need it. Your face was so much better, we didn't need to mention it.
We'll see Dr O'Gorman again at our six week check.

NCT Reunion
Last Sunday we met up with the mummies, daddies and babies from the NCT group. The only people who didn't make it were Michelle and Graeme and Shell and Si, so we didn't meet Dylan or Lola.
We sat around and chatted and you had cuddles with Rachel and with Libby.
We'll be seeing lots more of these ladies and their babies in the future so you'll have some good friends your own age and I'll have some mummies to chat to.

Gripe Water
On Saturday, you met Auntie Gill and Uncle Dave. They're Granny and Papa's best friends. We all went for a dog walk and then you had cuddles with Auntie Gill.
As the evening wore on, you weren't a very happy baby - you just wouldn't settle and there was a lot of crying. It was definitely you telling us you weren't comfy and it turned into uncomfy and overtired. Our guess was wind but you weren't burping like we'd expect. Granny mentioned gripe water so we picked up some on the way home and tried it as soon as we got in.
It was like a miracle cure! One very large burp and several goblins later, you were back to contented and almost asleep.

Smiles
You've been a smiley baby from very very early on - in your sleep at first (like you were practicing using your facial muscles) and then more and more when you're awake. I'm still not sure the smiles are reactions to anything in particular but I have no doubt it's because you're happy and contented. I even get smiles during a feed!
You've made Mummy and Daddy's heart melt on several occasions when you've smiled at us. It's hard to pinpoint a first time - last week I'd say so 4-5 weeks old.

Doctor: 35 days old
We were advised at the walk in centre to see our GP on Friday afternoon so that's what we did.
Unfortunately, Dr Cameron was running very late so when we saw him he appeared tired and busy. Your cheeks were clearing but not entirely clear so I was grateful for some medical advice. Dr Cameron wasn't too helpful - all he could say was to keep doing what we were doing and that it could take months to settle. Riiiiight. He also wasn't keen to change his diagnosis to eczema so he wasn't really giving us the right advice anyway.
I also asked him to treat us for thrush (lots of antibiotics has taken it's toll on Mummy) and after some persuasion he prescribed treatment for both of us.
He checked my scar, which had been worrying me as it's still weepy in areas, and advised that it's as it should be - which isn't strictly true I don't think.
