I've been talking about taking you to Tiny Talk (baby signing) for aggggges now and I've never gotten around to sorting it out. Well this week, I did. It's at Langley Children's Centre on a Friday afternoon and we went for our first session today. Michelle and Dylan joined us and both of you loved it.
I bought some materials to use at home and I'm already getting the hang of it. It's really good fun and I'm hoping it'll come in very useful.
Shell and I will be working on getting Jake and Abbie along next week so you can all learn together.
A blog for our baby
This blog was started when we found out we were expecting our first baby (after 18 months of trying) and continues now Maddy has been born. We welcomed our breech baby, Madeleine Elise, by elective c-section on 11/02/2011.

Dada and Dog
Last week, on my birthday (thank you for my cool new brolly by the way) you delighted your Daddy by saying Dada. He's been waiting and waiting for it, every time he sat with you saying it to you, you seemed to reply with MAMA. Much to my amusement... Dog (actually at the dogs) followed shortly after. Clever girl.

Proud moment!
I've been really lax about writing the blog lately. Sorry petal. It's not like there's nothing to write either, you seem to do something new every day. We're in the process of moving house so I'll use that as my excuse and try my hardest to be more regular from now on. Let's see if I can do a recap...
You're a noisy little thing. Mumumumum and various others noises - shouts too. No Dadadadad yet but we're hopeful.
You sit nice and strong, have done from the start really. Rarely lose balance and fall sideways or backwards. You're not crawling (don't seem fussed on trying, would rather sit) but you LOVE to stand. Holding onto Granny, Daddy or me or the closest item of furniture. You don't pull yourself up yet but you experiment with letting go with one or both hands.
You really enjoy your food. You try anything, I don't think there's much you don't like. Fresh tomatoes make your eczema react, I think it's the juice being in direct contact with your skin. You're fine if its in bolognese or similar. You have toast and marmalade and some fruit for breakfast and then minced whatever we've eaten for lunch and dinner. Plenty of fruit and veg. You love raisins and sultanas. You also love cake, on the occasion we share it with you. Not really a surprise... Same goes for ice cream...
You've weaned yourself down to two milk feeds a day, when you wake and before bed. You sleep through now, 7.30-8 to 7.30-8.
You love being outside - walks in your baby carrier on my or Daddy's front or in your pushchair. You love the dogs and the chickens, it makes you giggle when they lick your ears. The dogs that is, not the chickens.
Today, I had my apt with the Mother and Baby clinic (I'm doing super well) and then we had a cuppa in Sainsburys. You had a bit of Granny and my Belgian bun and we tried you with a straw for the first time on the off chance. You chewed the straw first but got the hang of sucking really quickly and finished off the carton of innocent smoothie!! That's really quite advanced for eight months. Clever girl!

Your Christening
Sunday 4 September was the day of your Christening. The majority of our nearest and dearest joined us at St. Mary's, Hobs Moat at 2.30pm for a beautiful service by your lovely Granny. A few people couldn't attend: Auntie Rosie, Uncle Nick, India and Boo couldn't come as Uncle Nick had had an operation and needed the love and attention of his girls to make sure he got better quickly; Auntie Hannah and Uncle John were on a weekend away with friends; Suzie, Rob and Max were still getting used to one another (Max was only a few weeks old); and Michelle, Graeme and Dylan were in the wrong county too.
Lots of people did make it: Granny and Papa; Auntie Lora, Uncle Rhys, Daniel, Hannah and Adam; Nanna; Grandad and Great Gran; Uncle Rhys, Auntie Jo and Bump; Auntie Kerry and Uncle Mark; Auntie Laura and Uncle Nigel; Uncle Simon, Auntie Aisling and Conor; Rachel, Mark and Beth; Sally and Jake; Ally and Abbie; and Nicky and Hamish.
After the service, we gathered at Granny and Papa's for Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches and wraps, cupcakes and Christening cake. Yum! Uncle Rhys toasted you. You are very loved xxx

A day of firsts...
Technically yesterday as it's twenty past midnight...
Firstly, you and I were downstairs early this morning as you were wide awake and Daddy needed a lie in. As we sat in the living room, you started practicing new sounds: "mumumumumum" and "mamamamama". You've even seemed to use it to refer to me a few times. I actually couldn't be prouder. Do try and say Dada next.
Secondly, the teeth that have been niggling for the past few weeks/months (more so in the past few weeks) are finally breaking through the gum. It's the bottom two, definitely one but it might be both. Clever girl.

Overwhelmed
I love you so very much. You're so beautiful and perfect, sometimes I can't quite believe you're here and you're ours. You're an intelligent and funny little soul, strong willed already with a fantastic smile that lights up your whole face.
